Brzeće lies at the foot of Kopaonik, at an altitude of 1,100 m. It is an ideal destination both in winter and in summer, for recovery and for keeping in good health. The clean air, the nature and the quiet around us do the immune system good.
Winter in Brzeće
You can enjoy the magic of winter right across the road from our apartment, on the ski slope of Hotel Junior, which belongs to the hotel of the same name and is 400 metres long. It is ideal for children and beginner skiers. The slope is open from 09:00 to 16:00, and full-day and half-day ski passes are available. About 500 m from the apartment is the gondola that takes you up to Kopaonik, to Mali Karaman to be precise, in 12.5 minutes. Whether the gondola is running today is published on the official website: status of the lifts and slopes on Kopaonik (in Serbian).
Summer and day trips
If you visit Brzeće in summer, you may want to cool off at a swimming pool. Below Brzeće, 20 km in the direction of Kruševac, you can enjoy the swimming pools in Brus. If you would rather swim in thermal mineral water, you can visit Jošanička Banja, about 40 km or 50 minutes’ drive away.
If you like walking and nature, you can walk up to the monument “on Mramor”, the hill above Brzeće, 1 km from us. And if you carry on past Mramor along the forest track, a few kilometres further is the famous Jelovarnik waterfall, about 70 metres high and one of the tallest waterfalls in Serbia.
Metođe is reached from the large right-hand hairpin bend at the 14th kilometre of the Brzeće – Kopaonik road. It is an old gravel track that starts at a green barrier. After some 25 minutes on foot you reach a resting place and then the geyser. Another 20 minutes or so will bring you to the shrine itself.
For a full-day trip by car: Prolom Banja, a spa known for its Prolom water, is about 75 km away (an hour and a half’s drive), and Đavolja Varoš (Devil’s Town), a natural monument with more than 200 earth pillars topped with stone caps, is about 80 km away (an hour and 40 minutes). Both are on Mount Radan, so you can visit them on the same day.
What you’ll find in Brzeće
Brzeće has several restaurants and cafés: the nearest restaurant is 100 m from the apartment, and others are 800 m and 1.5 km away. Hotel Junior, across the road from the apartment, has its own restaurant, café and cash machine, and there is a children’s playground in front of the hotel. Inside the hotel there is also a playroom for younger children, billiards and table tennis, and during the season the hotel runs an evening children’s cinema in its conference hall, showing one cartoon each time.
The Hotel Junior ski rental has skis, ski boots, helmets and goggles, and there are also ski rental shops at the lower gondola station. The shop is 150 m from the apartment and the bakery is in our building.
Getting to Brzeće
Brzeće is about 255 km from Belgrade, around 3 hours’ drive, and about 65 km from Kruševac, an hour and 10 minutes. Brus is 20 km away (20 minutes) and the centre of Kopaonik 22 km (25 minutes’ drive). There is also a bus on the Brus – Brzeće – Kopaonik line, which stops in front of Hotel Junior.
In winter you usually do not need snow chains to get to Brzeće. When road conditions are difficult, the police at the junction for Brzeće and Kopaonik let cars without chains through to Brzeće, but not up to Kopaonik.
