Kopaonik
Kopaonik, known as “the Roof of Serbia”, is the largest mountain massif in the country. For those who love peace and quiet as much as for those who want an active holiday with a shot of adrenaline, Kopaonik is an ideal destination all year round.
Its highest point is Pančić’s Peak, at 2,017 m, crowned by the mausoleum of the famous Serbian naturalist it is named after. Thanks to its natural values, Kopaonik was granted national park status in 1981.
The ski season on Kopaonik usually lasts from early December to the last week of April, and most slopes are equipped with snowmaking. The ski centre has more than 60 km of slopes and ski routes for alpine and nordic skiing, with one gondola, three six-seat and seven four-seat chairlifts, ten ski lifts, two connecting ski lifts and a magic carpet (data from Ski Resorts of Serbia, 2026). The Brzeće – Mali Karaman gondola connects Brzeće with the centre of Kopaonik. In the summer season the Kopaonik tourist centre offers ideal conditions for both an active and a relaxed holiday. There is a bobsleigh track, panoramic chairlift rides, paragliding and a zip line, along with a large number of marked walking and hiking trails. The adventure park extends over 2,000 metres, and for the youngest visitors there is a specially equipped playground.
Accommodation at the foot of the mountain: STAR Apartman in Brzeće is about 500 m from the gondola to Kopaonik.
